Our commitment

We seek to make responsible AI guidance practical and accessible, treat people and organisations fairly, protect personal information and consider the wider social and environmental effects of our activities.

Responsible use of artificial intelligence

RAIUC promotes 10 Responsible AI Commitments overing important aspects of responsible AI use, including human oversight, transparency, privacy, security, fairness, accountability, accuracy and responsible decision-making.

Through our certification programme, educational materials and practical resources, we encourage organisations to consider how AI is introduced, managed and used. Our aim is to help organisations build awareness, adopt responsible practices and communicate their commitments clearly.

RAIUC certification is voluntary and declaration-based. It is not an independent audit, legal approval or guarantee of compliance. We communicate this distinction openly to help organisations and members of the public understand what certification represents.

Accessibility and inclusion

We believe information about responsible AI should be understandable and accessible to organisations of different sizes, sectors and levels of technical experience.

We aim to use clear language, provide accessible website functionality and make our core certification programme and educational materials available as widely as practicable. We seek to avoid unnecessary complexity or cost becoming a barrier to participation.

We support the principles of fairness, inclusion and non-discrimination. We do not knowingly discriminate on the basis of age, disability, race, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

Privacy and digital responsibility

RAIUC is committed to handling personal information responsibly, transparently and in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.

We seek to collect only the information reasonably required to operate our services, administer certification, respond to enquiries, protect the security of our website and understand how our services are being used. Where statistics are collected, we aim to use aggregated or anonymous information whenever reasonably possible.

Ethical working practices and modern slavery

RAIUC does not currently meet the turnover threshold requiring the publication of a modern slavery statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Nevertheless, we oppose modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour in all their forms.

We seek to work with reputable service providers and suppliers that share these principles. If a credible concern about exploitation or unethical working practices connected with our activities or supply chain is brought to our attention, we will consider it seriously and take proportionate action where appropriate.

As a small, digitally operated initiative, our supply chain is limited and consists primarily of providers of technology, hosting, communications and other professional or operational services. We will keep our approach under review as RAIUC develops and its activities or supplier relationships change.

Environmental responsibility

RAIUC operates principally through digital services. Although digital activities still have an environmental impact, this operating model reduces the need for printed materials, physical distribution and routine travel.

We aim to avoid unnecessary waste, make responsible use of digital and physical resources and consider environmental factors when making proportionate operational decisions. We will not make claims about carbon neutrality, emissions reduction or environmental performance unless those claims can be supported by reliable evidence.

Integrity and transparency

We aim to describe RAIUC, its certification and its services accurately. We do not present declaration-based certification as an audit, accreditation, regulatory approval or guarantee of an organisation’s conduct.

We seek to correct material inaccuracies brought to our attention and to distinguish clearly between confirmed information, guidance and opinion. Where relevant, we also explain the limitations of our services and encourage organisations to obtain appropriate professional or legal advice.

Continuous improvement

RAIUC is an evolving initiative. We recognise that social responsibility is an ongoing process rather than a single statement or fixed achievement.

We welcome constructive feedback and will review this statement periodically to ensure that it continues to reflect our activities, values and responsibilities. As RAIUC grows, we will consider whether further policies, checks, objectives or public reporting would be appropriate and proportionate.
