What you can report
You can raise a concern if you believe that:
- an organisation is displaying a RAIUC certificate or badge that it is not entitled to use;
- information shown on a certificate is inaccurate or misleading;
- an organisation is presenting expired, suspended, withdrawn or revoked certification as though it is still current;
- an organisation is claiming that RAIUC has audited, approved, endorsed or guaranteed it when this has not happened;
- the RAIUC name, certificate, badge or logo is being used without authorisation or in a misleading way;
- information shown in the RAIUC certificate register may be incorrect; or
- RAIUC has made an error or you have a complaint about the way we operate.
You may also contact us about any other issue that you believe could affect the integrity of the declaration-based RAIUC certification scheme.
Reporting certificate misuse
If your concern relates to a specific certificate, please include the organisation’s name and certificate number where possible.
A brief explanation of the issue is also helpful. Where relevant, you can provide a link, screenshot or other information showing how the certification is being displayed or described.
RAIUC certificate verification pages may also provide a way to report concerns relating to an individual certificate.
What happens when you contact us
We will review the information you provide and consider whether any further action is needed.
Depending on the circumstances, this may involve checking the relevant certificate record, reviewing publicly available information, contacting the certified organisation for clarification, or asking for additional information.
We aim to assess concerns fairly and in proportion to the nature of the issue.
Action we may take
Depending on what we find, RAIUC may:
- correct information in a certificate record;
- ask an organisation to correct a misleading statement;
- request that inappropriate use of a certificate, badge or logo stops;
- suspend, withdraw or revoke certification;
- amend or remove a certificate record; or
- take no further action where the concern cannot be substantiated.
Any action taken will depend on the circumstances and the seriousness of the matter.
Important limitation
RAIUC certification is voluntary and declaration-based. As part of the standard certification process, RAIUC does not routinely audit or monitor the day-to-day AI activities of certified organisations.
RAIUC is not a regulator and cannot carry out investigations on behalf of regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies or the courts.
If your concern involves suspected unlawful activity, immediate danger, fraud, data protection breaches or another matter that may require official intervention, you should consider reporting it to the appropriate authority.
Fairness and confidentiality
We aim to handle concerns responsibly. Information provided to us will only be used as necessary to review and respond to the issue, subject to our Privacy Policy and any applicable legal obligations.
Where appropriate, an organisation may be given an opportunity to respond to a concern before action is taken in relation to its certification.
Submitting a concern does not automatically result in a certificate being suspended, withdrawn or revoked.
